For over 30 years, Leo has been working with computing technologies, starting by assembling his first analog computer in 1967 and continuing as an Algol 80 and Basic programmer before the onset of microprocessors. In 1979 Leo graduated from U.C. Santa Cruz with a B.A. in Environmental Planning and minor in Information Technologies. He received his M.Arch in 1982 from SCI-ARC. In 1984, with his California state license to practice Architecture, Leo also began his career as a User Experience Architect (before he knew that’s what it was called). A strong proponent of Vitruvian Principles, Leo has been involved with a variety of design projects including a paper based graphical scheduling system (during the pre-PC period), the design and implementation of a symbol language for CAD based asset management, and the development of Plan AHEAD - a usability test development tool. Throughout his career as general partner of Phase II, a CAD based facilities management consultancy, and with Cliffside Software, Inc., a Portland software development firm, Leo has maintained a strong experience-centered design philosophy. For the past seven(+) years, Leo has been Principal Architect, User Experience for the Logic Analyzer Product Line at Tektronix, Inc. A California refugee since 1992, Leo and his family feel extraordinarily lucky to live and work in Portland. |
